What makes SpesaZen different from other apps?

SpesaZen is designed to be minimal yet powerful. There's no ad tracking, it works perfectly offline, learns from your habits, and you can automatically sort everything by your supermarket aisle.

Do I need to create an account to use it?

No! You can download SpesaZen and use it immediately without any registration. All your data stays on your device. An account is only needed for cloud backup (Premium).

Is Premium really free?

During the launch period, all Premium features are included for free when you download the app. No subscription or credit card required.

Come funziona il Backup e ripristino?

You can save your data in two ways:

LOCAL BACKUP (all users):
- Saves a file on your device or in the cloud (Google Drive)
- File format: .szon (a special SpesaZen file)
- From Menu > Import/Export > Create copy

CLOUD BACKUP (Premium, free during launch):
- Saves your data online on SpesaZen's servers
- You can restore it on any Android device by signing in with the same account
- Useful for changing phones or having your data on multiple devices

IMPORTANT: Local backup (.szon) is different from CSV export. CSV export is only used to share the list with someone who doesn't have the app.

Come uso SpesaZen su più dispositivi?

With cloud backup you can have your data on multiple Android devices. It's a manual process, not automatic.

ON THE FIRST DEVICE:
1. Create your products and lists
2. From the main screen, tap the cloud icon at the top
3. Tap "Create cloud backup"

ON THE SECOND DEVICE:
1. Install SpesaZen from the Google Play Store
2. Sign in with the SAME account
3. From the main screen, tap the cloud icon
4. Tap "Restore from cloud"
5. Choose the most recent backup

TO UPDATE DATA:
Every time you want to update the other device, repeat: backup on one → restore on the other.

TIP:
Use one device as "main" and the others to view the list. This avoids conflicts.

How do I add a product to the list?

To add a product to your shopping list:

1. From the main screen (List), tap the text field at the top where it says "Search or add..."
2. Type the name of the product (e.g., "Milk")
3. As you type, the app suggests products from your personal catalog
4. Press Enter on the keyboard or tap one of the suggestions

The product is added immediately to the list. You can also:
- Tap the camera icon to scan a barcode
- Tap "Add from catalog" to see all your products
- Paste a complete list (one product per line)

How do I edit a product?

To edit an existing product:

1. From the products list, tap the name of the product or tap and hold
2. Select "Edit" from the popup menu
3. In the edit screen you can change:
- Product name
- Personal notes (e.g., preferred brand)
- Quantity
- Barcode
- Assigned supermarket
- Aisle
- Rating (from 1 to 5 stars)
4. Tap "Save" to confirm

How do I delete or archive a product?

There are two ways to remove a product:

DELETE FROM LIST (keep in catalog):
1. From the list, swipe left on the product
2. Tap the trash icon
3. The product is removed from the list but stays in the catalog

DELETE PERMANENTLY:
1. Go to the Catalog (bottom icon)
2. Find the product
3. Tap and hold
4. Select "Delete from catalog"
5. Confirm deletion

The deleted product is moved to "Archived products" for 30 days before being permanently removed.

Deletion path: List > Swipe left > Trash
Permanent path: Catalog > Hold > Delete from catalog

How do I make a local backup of my data?

To create a local backup of your data:

1. Tap the menu icon (three lines) in the top left
2. Go to "Import/Export"
3. Under the "Local backup" section you'll find options to:
- "Create copy": generates an .szon file with all your data
- "Download backup": saves the file to your device

The .szon file contains:
- All products
- All supermarkets
- All aisles
- All templates
- Loyalty cards
- Settings

To restore:
1. Go to Import/Export
2. Tap "Import from file"
3. Select the .szon file
4. Confirm the import

How does cloud backup work (Premium)?

Cloud backup allows you to securely save your data online on SpesaZen's servers.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Active SpesaZen Premium subscription
- Signed-in account (not anonymous)

HOW TO CREATE A BACKUP:
1. From the main screen, tap the cloud icon at the top
2. Tap "Create cloud backup"
3. Wait for it to finish

HOW TO RESTORE:
1. Install SpesaZen on a device
2. Sign in with the same account
3. From the main screen, tap the cloud icon
4. Tap "Restore from cloud"
5. Select the most recent backup

Cloud backups are encrypted with AES-256. Only you can read their content.

How do I use the barcode scanner?

To add a product by scanning its barcode:

1. From the main list, tap the camera icon at the top
2. Frame the product's barcode
3. The app automatically searches for the product

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER SCANNING:
- If the product is in your catalog: it gets added to the list
- If the product is in the OpenFoodFacts database: its information (name, brand, Nutri-Score) is shown
- If not found: you can enter the name manually

INFORMATION SHOWN:
- Product name
- Brand
- Nutri-Score (from A to E)
- Eco-Score (environmental impact)
- Nutritional values

How do I manage supermarkets?

To add, edit, or delete supermarkets:

ADDING A SUPERMARKET:
1. Menu > Stores
2. Tap the "+" button at the bottom right
3. Enter the supermarket's name (e.g., "Central Aldi")
4. Optional: add an address
5. Tap "Add store"

EDITING A SUPERMARKET:
1. Menu > Stores
2. Tap the supermarket you want to edit
3. Change the name or address
4. Tap "Save"

DELETING A SUPERMARKET:
1. Menu > Stores
2. Tap and hold the supermarket
3. Select "Delete store"
4. Confirm

ASSIGNING PRODUCTS TO A SUPERMARKET:
1. From the list or catalog, select a product
2. Tap "Assign to store"
3. Choose the supermarket

How do I manage aisles?

Aisles allow you to organize products by category (e.g., Fruit, Dairy, Frozen).

ADDING AN AISLE:
1. Menu > Aisles
2. Tap the "+" button at the bottom right
3. Enter the aisle's name
4. Choose an identifying color
5. Tap "Add aisle"

EDITING AN AISLE:
1. Menu > Aisles
2. Tap the aisle to edit
3. Change the name or color
4. Tap "Save"

DELETING AN AISLE:
1. Menu > Aisles
2. Tap and hold the aisle
3. Select "Delete aisle"
4. Associated products are NOT deleted

ASSIGNING PRODUCTS:
1. Select a product from the list or catalog
2. Tap "Assign to aisle"
3. Choose the aisle

AUTOMATIC SORTING:
When you activate shopping mode, products are automatically sorted by aisle.

How do I create and use templates?

Templates are predefined lists you can reuse (e.g., "Weekly groceries", "BBQ", "Breakfast").

CREATING A TEMPLATE:
1. Menu > Templates
2. Tap the "+" button at the bottom right
3. Enter the template's name
4. Add the products you want
5. Tap "Create"

ADDING PRODUCTS TO AN EXISTING TEMPLATE:
1. From the main list, select a product
2. Tap "Add to template"
3. Choose the template

USING A TEMPLATE:
1. Menu > Templates
2. Tap the template you want to use
3. Tap "Use template"
4. Choose whether to add to the existing list or replace it
5. Confirm

DUPLICATING A TEMPLATE:
1. Templates > Tap and hold the template
2. Select "Duplicate"

DELETING A TEMPLATE:
1. Templates > Tap and hold the template
2. Select "Delete template"

How does shopping mode work?

Shopping mode optimizes the app for when you're at the supermarket.

HOW TO ACTIVATE IT:
1. From the main list, ensure you've added the products to buy
2. Tap the "Shopping mode" button (cart icon) at the top
3. The app enters full-screen mode

WHAT CHANGES:
- Checked products are automatically hidden
- The screen stays always on
- Simplified interface for one-handed use
- You can scan products directly
- You only see products you need to buy

HOW IT WORKS:
1. When you pick up a product, tap the checkbox next to its name
2. The product is moved to the "Completed" section
3. Continue until you've finished shopping
4. At the end, tap "Finish shopping" at the top

AT THE END:
- A summary of your shopping is shown
- Purchased products are marked as "got it"
- The last purchase date is updated for your statistics

You can save all your loyalty cards in the app and show them at the checkout.

ADDING A CARD:
1. Menu > Settings
2. Scroll down to "Loyalty cards"
3. Tap "Add loyalty card"
4. Enter:
- Store name (e.g., "Tesco")
- Card number (type it or scan it)
- Optional description (e.g., "John's card")
5. Tap "Save"

SCANNING A CARD:
1. While adding, tap the camera icon
2. Frame the card's barcode
3. The number is entered automatically

SHOWING A CARD AT CHECKOUT:
1. Menu > Settings > Loyalty cards
2. Tap the card you want to show
3. The barcode is displayed in full screen
4. Show your phone to the optical reader

DELETING A CARD:
1. Settings > Loyalty cards
2. Tap and hold the card
3. Select "Delete"

Come importo prodotti da CSV?

You can import products from a CSV file (compatible with Excel, Google Sheets).

REQUIRED FORMAT:
The CSV file must have at least one column with the product name. Other optional fields:
- name (mandatory)
- quantity
- notes
- barcode
- supermarket
- aisle

HOW TO IMPORT:
1. Menu > Import/Export
2. In the "Import" section, tap "From CSV file"
3. Select the file from your device
4. The preview shows how the data will be imported
5. Map the columns if necessary
6. Tap "Import"

IMPORT OPTIONS:
- "Add new only": ignores existing products
- "Add all": imports everything, including duplicates

AFTER IMPORTING:
- New products appear in the catalog
- You can assign them to supermarkets and aisles

Come esporto prodotti in CSV?

You can export all your products in CSV format to use them in Excel or share them.

HOW TO EXPORT:
1. Menu > Import/Export
2. In the "Export" section, tap "Export CSV"
3. Choose what to include:
- Only products in the list
- Only products in the catalog
- Everything
4. Tap "Export"
5. The file is saved to your device

WHAT IS EXPORTED:
- Product name
- Quantity
- Notes
- Barcode
- Assigned supermarket
- Assigned aisle
- Creation date
- Last purchase date

USING THE FILE:
- Open with Excel or Google Sheets

You can share your list with friends and family.

WITH PREMIUM - SHARABLE LINK:
1. From the main list, tap the "Share" icon at the top
2. If you have Premium, you'll see the "Create sharable link" option
3. Tap "Create link"
4. A unique link is generated
5. Share the link via WhatsApp, email, etc.

WHO RECEIVES THE LINK:
- Can view your list
- Can import a COPY of the products
- CANNOT edit your original list

WITHOUT PREMIUM:
1. Tap "Share"
2. Choose "Export as text"
3. The content is copied to your clipboard
4. Paste it wherever you prefer

Product sorting is completely customizable.

DRAG TO REORDER:
1. From the main list
2. Tap and hold a product
3. Drag to your desired position
4. Release

The order is saved automatically and remembered forever.

FILTERS AND SORTING:
1. Tap the "Filter" icon at the top right
2. You can sort by:
- Custom order (the one you've created)
- Name (A-Z or Z-A)
- Aisle
- Supermarket
- Date added

AUTOMATIC SORTING:
In shopping mode, products are sorted by aisle to follow a logical path through the supermarket.

AFTER REGISTRATION:
- The account is free
- Local data is kept
- You can connect multiple devices

NOTE:
You can use the app without an account (offline), but you won't be able to use cloud features.

To permanently delete your account:

WARNING: This action is IRREVERSIBLE.

HOW TO DELETE:
1. Menu > Settings
2. Go to "Account"
3. Scroll down to "Danger zone"

6. Tap "Permanently delete"

BEFORE DELETING:
You are offered the possibility to:
- Download your data (GDPR)
- Make a local backup

WHAT GETS DELETED:
- All data from the cloud
- All devices are disconnected
- Premium subscription is canceled
- Data cannot be recovered

LOCAL DATA:
Data saved on the device is deleted by uninstalling the app.

Protect access to the app with your fingerprint or facial recognition.

- Mobile device with a biometric sensor

AVAILABLE OPTIONS:

WHEN TO LOCK:
- "Never": lock disabled
- "When opening the app": every time you launch the app

- 30 minutes

HOW IT WORKS:
When active, opening the app prompts you to authenticate with your fingerprint or face.

DISABLING:
Go back to Settings > Security > App lock and turn it off.

The catalog contains all the products you have ever used.

HOW TO ACCESS:
1. Tap "Catalog" in the bottom bar

VIEWING:
The catalog has three tabs:
- "All": all products
- "In list": products currently in your shopping list
- "Not in list": available products not currently in your list

ADDING FROM CATALOG:
1. Find the product (search or scroll)
2. Tap the product
3. Select "Add to list"

ADVANCED FILTERS:
1. Tap "Filters" at the top
2. Filter by:
- Supermarket
- Aisle
- Status (in list/not in list)
- Last purchase date
- Rating

EDITING MULTIPLE PRODUCTS:
1. Tap and hold a product to select it
2. Tap other products to select them
3. Use the actions at the bottom to edit them all together

- A: Very good nutritional quality (green)
- B: Good (light green)
- C: Medium (yellow)
- D: Low (orange)
- E: Very low (red)

ECO-SCORE:
Environmental impact of the product:
- A: Very low impact
- B: Low impact
- C: Moderate impact
- D: High impact
- E: Very high impact

OTHER INFORMATION:
- Calories
- Fat, carbohydrates, protein
- Ingredients (when available)
- Additives

The market determines product suggestions and default aisles.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN CHANGING MARKET:
- Current aisles are archived
- Products remain but without an aisle
- The new market's aisles are created
- Returning to the old market restores its aisles

HOW TO CHANGE:
1. Menu > Settings
2. Scroll down to "Market"
3. Tap "Change market"
4. Select the new market from the list
5. Read the warning and confirm

AVAILABLE MARKETS:
The app supports 21 regional markets:
Italy, Germany, Austria, Spain, Mexico, France, Canada, Netherlands, Brazil, Japan, Korea, Turkey, Poland, Taiwan, Sweden, UK, USA, Australia, South Africa, India

WHY CHANGE:
- Moving to another country
- More relevant product suggestions
- Aisles tailored to local supermarkets

Come recupero i prodotti archiviati?

Products deleted from the catalog are archived for 30 days.

HOW TO ACCESS:
1. Menu > Import/Export
2. Tap "Archived products"

WHAT YOU'LL FIND:
- Products deleted in the last 30 days
- Deletion date
- Days remaining before permanent deletion

RESTORING A PRODUCT:
1. Find the product in the list
2. Tap the product
3. Select "Restore"
4. The product returns to the catalog

PERMANENTLY DELETING:
1. Tap the product
2. Select "Permanently delete"
3. Confirm

AUTOMATIC DELETION:
After 30 days, archived products are permanently deleted without the possibility of recovery.

DISCONNECTING A DEVICE:
1. In the list, find the device to disconnect
2. Tap the disconnect icon
3. Confirm
4. The device will be disconnected and will need to sign in again

CUSTOMIZING THE NAME:
1. Tap the device (only the current one)
2. Enter a recognizable name (e.g., "John's iPhone")
3. The name is saved and shown in the list

The history shows all your past shopping sessions.

HOW TO VIEW:

Shopping sessions are grouped by:

1. Tap on the session
2. See all products bought that time
3. For each product: name, quantity, price (if available)

RE-ADDING PRODUCTS:
1. Expand a session
2. Tap "Add to list" next to a product
3. The product is added to the current list

ADDING THE ENTIRE SESSION:
1. Tap "Add all" on the session
2. All products are added to the list

DIFFERENCE FROM STATISTICS:
- History: detailed list of every shopping trip
- Statistics: aggregated analysis of habits

Advanced filters allow you to find specific products in the catalog.

HOW TO ACCESS:
1. Catalog > Tap "Product filters" at the top

AVAILABLE FILTERS:

RATING:
- Filter by number of stars (1-5)
- Useful for finding products you liked

SUPERMARKET:
- Show only products from a specific store
- Useful when shopping at a specific supermarket

AISLE:
- Filter by category (Fruit, Dairy, etc.)

PURCHASE STATUS:
- Never purchased
- Purchased in the last week
- Purchased in the last month
- Purchased more than a month ago

SEARCH IN NOTES:
- Search text in the personal notes of products
- Useful for finding products with specific annotations

SAVING A FILTER:
1. Set the desired filters
2. Tap "Save filter"
3. Give the filter a name
4. The saved filter appears in the list of quick filters

APPLYING SAVED FILTER:
Tap the filter's name in the top bar.

The activity log shows information about your account and recent devices.

RECENT DEVICES SECTION:
- List of devices that have used the account

- Verifying there are no unauthorized logins
- Checking when you used the account from other devices
- Monitoring your account activity

Pull down to refresh the list.

You can give your device a custom name to easily recognize it.

WHY CUSTOMIZE:
- Easily recognize the device in the linked devices list
- Identify which device you made changes from
- Manage family devices more easily

HOW TO CUSTOMIZE:
1. Menu > Account
2. Tap "Device name"
3. Enter a recognizable name (e.g., "John's iPhone", "Office PC")
4. Tap "Save"

TIPS:
- Use descriptive, non-generic names
- Include the owner if you share the account
- Indicate the location if you have multiple devices

WHERE IT'S DISPLAYED:
- In the linked devices list
- In the activity log
- In cloud backups

RESTORING DEFAULT NAME:
1. Go to Device name
2. Clear the custom name
3. The system name will be used

4. Enter your new password (minimum 8 characters)

SETTING A PASSWORD (Google account):

2. Tap "Set password"
3. Enter your new password
4. You can now sign in with email + password

PASSWORD REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 8 characters
- Recommended: uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols

AFTER CHANGING:
- The new password is active immediately
- On other devices you will need to sign in again

You have the right to download all data associated with your account.

HOW TO REQUEST:
1. Menu > Account
2. Scroll down to "Data and privacy"
3. Tap "Download your data (GDPR)"

- Account data (email, creation date)
- Session logs
- Subscription status
- Cloud backups (if present)

WAITING TIME:
- Preparing the data takes a few minutes
- You will receive a notification when it's ready
- The file will be available for 7 days

FORMAT:
- ZIP file containing JSON files
- Readable with any text editor
- You can open it with Excel or Google Sheets

NOTE:
Local data on the device is NOT included. For that, use "Export CSV" or "Local backup".

RATING (1-5 stars):
- Your judgment on the product
- Useful to remember what you liked
- Filterable in the catalog

REORDER ESTIMATION:
For regularly purchased products:
- Shows how much time has passed
- Indicates if it might be time to buy them again

ADDING TO LIST:
1. Tap a product in the list
2. Tap "Add to list"
3. The product is added immediately

UPDATING:
Pull down to refresh statistics.

PRIVACY:
All calculations are done locally on your device. No data is sent online.

The code is valid for 1 hour. After that, request a new one.

To sign out of your account:

SIGNING BACK IN:
You can sign back in at any time with the same credentials and find all your data.

If you have duplicate products in the catalog, you can automatically remove them.

HOW IT WORKS:
The app searches for products with the same name in the same supermarket and merges them, keeping the most recent data.

HOW TO USE:

3. Tap "Remove duplicates"
4. The app searches for duplicates
5. Confirm the removal

WHAT IS DONE:
- Products with identical empty names are merged
- Data (notes, barcode, aisle) from the most recent is kept
- Purchase history is preserved

WHEN TO USE IT:
- After CSV imports
- If you added the same product multiple times
- To clean up the catalog

The app can automatically send anonymous crash and error reports.

Qual è la differenza tra esportazione CSV e download dati?

These are two different things with different purposes:

CSV EXPORT (for personal backup):
- Saves your products in a CSV file
- You can open it with Excel or Google Sheets
- You can re-import it into the app if you change phones
- Always available, even offline
- Found in: Menu > Import/Export > Export CSV

DOWNLOAD DATA (for legal/GDPR):
- Downloads ALL your data from the server (account, backups, preferences)
- Only serves to have a copy of your data for legal reasons
- CANNOT be re-imported into the app
- Requires an account and internet connection
- Found in: Menu > Account > Download your data

FOR PERSONAL BACKUP: always use CSV!

Cosa succede se cambio paese o mercato?

You can change your country in the settings. Here's what happens:

WHEN YOU CHANGE COUNTRY:
- Aisles from the old country are hidden (not deleted)
- The new country's aisles are created
- All your products remain, but some might appear "without an aisle"

IF YOU GO BACK TO THE PREVIOUS COUNTRY:
- The old aisles reappear
- Products automatically go back to their original aisles
- You don't lose anything!

WHY CHANGE:
- If you move to another country
- To get more relevant product suggestions
- To see typical categories for local supermarkets

Cosa succede quando scade Premium?

During the launch period, all Premium features are free for everyone who downloads the app. There is no subscription to manage and no expiration date at this time.

YOUR DATA:
- Local data on your device always remains intact
- You can use the app normally even offline

Come uso SpesaZen con Alexa o Google Home?

You can add products using your voice and then send them to SpesaZen.

WITH ALEXA:
1. Say "Alexa, add milk to my shopping list"
2. Alexa saves the product to the Alexa list
3. When you want to prepare your list, open the Alexa app
4. Go to the shopping list
5. Tap the "Share" link in the top right
6. Select "SpesaZen"
7. The products are imported automatically

WITH GOOGLE HOME / ASSISTANT:
1. Say "Ok Google, add milk to my shopping list"
2. Google saves the product to Google Keep
3. Open the Google Keep app
4. Tap the shopping list note
5. Tap the three dots in the bottom right
6. Select "Send" > "Send via other apps"
7. Choose "SpesaZen"
8. The products are imported automatically

You can also copy the text from the list and paste it into SpesaZen's search field!

Come importo prodotti da chat o note?

You can paste lists from WhatsApp, Telegram, Notes, email, or any other app.

HOW TO:
1. Copy the text from your chat or notes
2. Go to SpesaZen
3. Tap the search field at the top
4. Paste the text
5. The app shows a window with the found products
6. Deselect the ones you don't want
7. Tap "Add"

WHAT IT RECOGNIZES AUTOMATICALLY:
- Multiple products on different lines
- Comma-separated products (e.g., "bread, milk, eggs")
- Timestamps and sender names (WhatsApp, Telegram) - get removed automatically
- Prefixes like "-", "•", "*", "1."
- Quantities in parentheses (e.g., "Eggs (6)")

WHATSAPP EXAMPLE:
You paste:
"[18:38] Marco: Bread, milk
[18:39] Marco: Eggs"

The app creates:
- Bread
- Milk
- Eggs

(the timestamp and the name Marco are removed automatically)

TIP:
If the app suggests something wrong, just deselect it. The app learns from your choices.

1. Tap "Catalog" in the bottom bar
2. Scroll or search
3. Use filters to find faster
